Plan Reviews
The Engineering Department assists the Department of Public Works and the Community Development Department (including the planning and inspection divisions) with plan reviews. Plan documents are reviewed for conformance with village standards, other governing agency standards, and design and construction standards typically practiced in southeast Wisconsin.
All drawings and reports submitted for Plan Commission review or Village Engineer review shall without exception:
1) Bear the seal and signature of a Wisconsin Professional Engineer [see Wisconsin Administrative Code, Ch. A-E 2, Sec. 2.02], and
2) Be administered compliant with all Professional Conduct standards [see Wisconsin Administrative Code, Ch. A-E 8].
The village is a charter member of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD). Therefore, the village is subservient to MMSD's requirements. The MMSD developed a Sewer Plan Review Submittal Toolkit to assist developers, engineers, and municipalities in complying with their requirements.
Developers and their engineers should submit plans to the village engineer for review before submitting plans to MMSD. Once plans are acceptable to the village, the village engineer will provide the developer's engineer an "Owner Letter" authorizing them to submit plans to the MMSD.
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reviews plans for various components of public potable water systems. Check out the DNR's requirements.
Developers and their engineers should submit plans to the village engineer for review before submitting plans to Wisconsin DNR. Once plans are acceptable to the village, the village engineer will provide the developer's engineer an "Owner Letter" authorizing them to submit plans to the Wisconsin DNR.
The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services reviews private exterior plumbing plans. Check out the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services's (DSPS's) plan review requirements.
Developers and their engineers should submit plans to the village engineer and to the village plumbing inspector for review before submitting plans to Wisconsin DSPS.
Wisconsin DNR requires developers, their engineers, or their contractors so submit Erosion Control and Storm Water Management Plans to them for review and permitting under a Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit. Check out the Wisconsin DNR's plan submittal requirements.
