Police Department
Welcome from the Chief
Welcome to the Germantown Police Department’s (GTPD's) section of the website! I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit.
Services
The GTPD provides police service and office hours 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have 43 employees, including 35 sworn officers. We have a variety of programs to serve the public that we are particularly proud to offer. With total community funding and support, we have two K-9 units, and an emotional support dog. K-9 handler Sergeant Justin Pesch is partnered with K-9 partner Arek. Arek joined our department in 2019. K-9 handler Officer Jared Spreiter is partnered with K-9 partner Migo. Migo joined our department in 2024. SRO Toni Olson is partnered with emotional support dog Archie. Archie joined our department in 2024.
Community Policing
“Community Policing” is not just the newest fad or buzzword for the GTPD. We believe in the philosophy of “getting back to basics,” working and networking with the community we police. The dedicated men and women of the GTPD have developed and instructed numerous programs for our community such as the Citizens' Academy, Youth Academy, Neighbors Against Crime Night (NAC Night), Identity Theft and Internet Safety seminars.
We have a D.A.R.E. program taught to the fifth graders in the Germantown school district by Lieutenant Penny Schmitt, School Resource Officer Toni Olson, School Resource Officer Kevin Laux, and Officer Jayna Schmittinger. We believe in being involved with other local programs. We have representatives on the Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Germantown, Youth Futures, Kiwanis, American Red Cross, Friends for Abused Families, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and many other programs that benefit and operate in this community.
