Click here to read more about Garbage Collection, Mailboxes, as well as an update on our 26.1 inches of snow last week!

Garbage Collection:

Due to unforeseen weather complications, Waste Managements operations are currently running about a day behind schedule. Rest assured, they are diligently working to bring everything back on track by the end of this week. In the event that any tasks are not completed within the week, they have made provisions to ensure that all outstanding work will be finalized on Saturday. Your understanding and cooperation during this period are highly appreciated. In light of the above, we kindly request residents keep their carts accessible for collection.  If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out.

Callback Expectations:

"The Village of Germantown will be answering calls related to snow clean-up M-F 8:00-4:30pm.  If we do not answer, please leave a detailed voicemail.  If enough information was provided in the message we will log your issue and distribute it to the appropriate crews but will not return the call.  Our call volume is high and we want to be efficient with our time and expedite our response.  Public Works can be reached at 262-250-4721."

Mailboxes:

"The Village of Germantown policy is not to replace mailboxes that were not directly hit by a plow.  We understand some mailboxes were damaged during plowing.  We will look at your mailbox, offer temporary assistance if possible, and if it was struck by a plow offer replacement.  This will not happen quickly as we work through a wide range of issues that affect public safety.  Anything you can do to temporarily repair you mailbox is your best option."

Storm Update:

The Village of Germantown received 26.1 inches of snow last week.  By comparison, an average full winter season of snowfall is approximately 36 inches.  Thanks to our crews for long hours to keep the roads open and passable.  Regular plowing was completed Saturday afternoon.

As of yesterday morning, we started extensive clean-up activities that may take the better part of two weeks.  Crews will be addressing drifting, clearing Village sidewalks, hauling snow away from congested intersections, repairing damaged fire hydrants, opening up buried hydrants, dealing with downed trees and branches that are causing safety issues in the right-of-way, etc.  We plan to move through the Village in a systematic fashion.  These activities take time and equipment and we will make it through everything, but your patience will be greatly appreciated.
