Have you moved into or within the Village of Germantown? Changed your name? Old enough to vote for the first time? Stop by the Clerk's Department with proper Proof of Residency and register to vote.

The Village of Germantown Clerk’s Office is holding a Voter Registration Drive on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 with special hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There are over 40 Wisconsin Municipalities in over 22 counties that will be holding a voter registration drive on this same day, some with extended hours and additional staff when we will focus on voter registration. We are hoping to accommodate residents who need to register to vote or update their registrations with a name or address change.

The greatest thing a voter (new or changed registration) can do to help make Election Day a positive experience, is to register in the Clerk’s office prior to the election, if they are able. Wisconsin Clerks are anticipating high voter turnout for the upcoming elections and getting more registrations prior to Election Day will mean a faster and smoother process at the polls for everyone voting and working. It also saves tax payer dollars by reducing the additional amount of work required after Election Day to finalize the voter registrations from that election.

Requirements to register to vote in Wisconsin:
? Must be 18 years old on or before the NEXT election.
? Must be a U.S. Citizen, not currently serving a felony conviction, nor been declared incompetent or ineligible to vote by a judge.
? Must have resided at your residence for at least 28 days prior to Election Day.
? Must show Proof of Residency. It must state your current name, your current address and issued recent enough to meet date requirements. A list of acceptable forms can be found at: www.myvote.wi. Most commonly used acceptable documents include: Current and Valid Driver’s license or state ID issued by the Wisconsin DMV, a recent utility bill, a paycheck or pay stub and/or a bank statement (checking or savings only).

Registering in advance will provide for your name and address to be pre-printed in the poll book for voting on Election Day, which helps speed up the voting process. We enter you into the statewide program right away, it will also alert you and us if there is any problem with your registration or proof of residency. This will allow more time for you to correct any issues in advance of the election. When your registration is complete we will give you your voting district and polling location information.

If you are registering at least 21 days before an election, you can register through the mail by mailing in the registration form and a copy of your acceptable proof of Residency to the Clerk’s office. You don’t have to register in person.

Please check our municipal website for forms and updated information regarding voter registration, absentee voting and the upcoming fall 2016 Elections of August 9th (Primary) and November 8th (Presidential Election).
